Stage 10

Track · Miracles and Signs

The Prophets and the Call to Conversion

God speaks to His people and calls them back to the covenant

This stage presents the mission of the prophets in a time marked by the division of the kingdom, idolatry, injustice, and unfaithfulness to the covenant. God does not abandon His people: He addresses His Word to them through men called and sent to denounce sin, to call to conversion, and to keep hope alive.

The prophets are not merely announcers of future events. They are witnesses of the Word of God in history. They recall who the Lord is, what the covenant demands, and what happens when worship is separated from justice. At the same time, they announce mercy, return, a new heart, a new covenant, a faithful shepherd, the Servant of the Lord, and salvation meant for all.

Doctrinal understanding

Word · Covenant · Conversion · Justice

You will grasp that the prophet is sent by God to speak in His name. Prophecy recalls the covenant, calls to conversion, and denounces a religiosity separated from justice. True faithfulness to God involves adoration, obedience, mercy, and uprightness of life.

Scripture in depth

Major and minor prophets

Other prophetic texts let us contemplate the richness of this stage. Isaiah announces holiness, judgment, consolation, and messianic hope. Jeremiah proclaims the new covenant. Ezekiel speaks of the new heart and of the shepherd of Israel. Hosea reveals the faithful love of God, and Amos forcefully denounces social injustice and empty worship.

Fulfilled in Christ

Gospels · Acts · Apostolic letters

The New Testament presents Jesus as the fulfillment of the prophets. He announces the good news, calls to conversion, works the signs of the Kingdom, and reveals the mercy of the Father. In the synagogue of Nazareth, Jesus applies the words of Isaiah to His mission. After the Passover, the apostles will proclaim that what God promised through the prophets has been fulfilled in Christ.
