Abraham and the Promise
God's call and the beginning of a history of blessing
This stage introduces the call of Abraham and the beginning of a new phase in Salvation History. After the scattering at Babel, God calls one particular man, asks him to leave his land, and promises him descendants, a land, and a blessing meant to reach all peoples.
The story of Abraham shows that salvation springs from God's initiative and asks for a response of faith. Abraham walks sustained by the promise, even though he does not yet see its full fulfillment. His faith is expressed in obedience, trust, and readiness to follow the path God opens before him.
The stage culminates in God's covenant with Abraham and in the promise bound up with Isaac. This story prepares fundamental themes of the whole Bible: election, promise, covenant, faith, descendants, universal blessing, and fulfillment in Christ.
